This picture of Arthur in uniform with my grandmother, Dolly, and their aunt, who raised them, is the only known picture remaining of Arthur. Dolly seems to be the only one taking the photo shoot in a fairly light hearted manner, perhaps unaware of the fate of a soldier going to the Front. On the breast of Dolly's cardigan can be seen a cap badge of the Hampshire Regiment, Arthur's regiment.

Arthur's uniform jacket shows a good conduct stripe on the left cuff. He is aged about 17-18 in this picture and Dolly about three years younger.
